Position: Safety Systems Engineer

Closed Date: Open Until Filled

Location: Remote

Main responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to client Systems Engineering and Project Management Plans, meeting all Regulatory and safety standards.
  • Manage the scope and schedule of projects in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Manage project hazard records and lead Hazard Identification (Hazard ID) workshops to ensure all potential risks are identified and documented.
  • Diagnosing and resolving complex system issues, often requiring collaboration with other engineers and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all safety and hazard documentation is up to date and accurately reflects the status of the project.
  • Provide leadership on complex railway upgrade projects, addressing and resolving issues involving multiple stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of technical deliverables to appropriate resources, facilitating thorough design review processes.
  • Offer a comprehensive overview of the status of all systems within the project, ensuring effective coordination of their development.
  • Lead meetings and workshops with project stakeholders, clients, and third-party companies to drive project objectives forward.
  • Maintain and manage a risk register, escalating critical issues as necessary to ensure timely resolution.
  • Foster strong communication channels with stakeholders, clients, and project team members to ensure alignment and address concerns proactively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or Safety Engineering related field.
  • Strong knowledge of EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129 and IEEE 61508.
  • Working knowledge of Rail safety standards and regulations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage complex project elements and stakeholder relationships effectively.
  • Proficiency in Hazard and risk management and the ability to resolve technical and project-related issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a proven track record of successful stakeholder Management.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in railway safety projects.
